The Magnolia Room is the home of Community Montessori's Elementary program. The Elementary program was established in 2004 to meet the needs expressed by parents for quality Montessori education continuing through the elementary level. Our lower and upper elementary classes for six to twelve year old students extend and expand upon the Montessori Primary level experience. This full Montessori program offers a wide range of exciting, challenging, intellectual and social opportunities in a unique and special learning environment.
Dr. Montessori believed that elementary children are capable of producing the greatest work of their academic careers. To meet their potential, Community Montessori offers a curriculum that includes language, mathematics, geometry, algebra, botany, biology, geography, history, music, art, and physical education.
Elementary aged children have an intense interest in the world around them, an interest in things that they cannot see with their eyes or touch with their hands. At Community Montessori, our unique environment is well suited to the characteristics of the elementary child. Lessons begin with questions such as "Can you imagine...?" in order to cater to their intense powers of imagination and reasoning. We give them the freedom to answer the impressing question of "why?" and provide them with cultural stories of extraordinary people.
Beyond MontessoriAt Community Montessori, children learn more than academics. They learn how to work collaboratively, solve problems, and contribute to society. They develop time management skills and an understanding of community. Long range studies have consistently shown that Montessori-educated children exceed their peers in academic competence and achievement, and that their autonomy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning continue to serve them well long after their Montessori experience. Children graduate from the Montessori elementary with the skills to be successful in academics and beyond.
